Update, 9 April, 11:45: our NBN service has been restored. Our new modem has some extra lightning protection for next time, so that hopefully there won’t be a next time. All services should be back to normal.

Thunderstorms passing through northern Sydney around 6pm on 7 April seem to have taken our NBN connection out of action, so our normally-online services are currently disabled. The affected systems are:

  • VK2RMB 2m audio stream
  • VK2MB-2 two metre APRS IGate
  • VK2MB-6 30m APRS IGate
  • D-STAR database and registration

The VK2MB-1 two metre APRS IGate runs from a different site, which was not affected by the storms.

We have a service call in with Aussie Broadband, and expect be back to normal in the next few days.

As it happened!
