In March 2025, our Membership & Training Coordinator, Brian VK2AXC was out west. While he was there, he dropped into the Army Museum of Western Australia. Here’s his report…

I thoroughly recommend a visit to the Fremantle Army Barracks Museum.

I met up with a friend’s cousin who is a volunteer. He arranged for Igor VK6ZFG, also a volunteer, to show me the new comms display.

Attached are a few snaps including a WW2 Spy Radio Igor prepared for the display.

Coincidentally, more on Spy Radios will be coming your way on 21st May 2025! Colin VK2JCC will give a lecture on Spy Radio covering Special Operations and Deception focusing on the use of spy radios by the French Resistance during WW II.

You can travel down from Perth to Fremantle on the train on the Day Rider Concession fare $4.80 that covers trains and buses.

Allow a minimum two hours as overall it is fantastic Army Museum. Best to stay overnight and also visit the Prison and Maritime Museums.
