Here at MWRS, the Fifth Wednesday (of any month that has one) is devoted to themed Show and Tell, with prizes for the Best Display and Best Story. The theme of this 5th Wednesday was classic 70s through 90s kits and memorabilia from Dick Smith Electronics, Tandy, Jaycar, Altronics, and Heathkit.  Dick Smith Electronics and Tandy (Radio Shack for the North Americans) were the places where you bought your kits, radios and components. Remember at Tandy, in 1988, you could buy a sealed two pack of 100k resistors for $1.49!!!! We were looking for genuine branded “stuff” including catalogues, equipment, radios, components still in their packages.

As well as the usual vote-by-gold-coin method, guest judge Dick Smith VK2DIK (yes, that Dick Smith!) was on hand to nominate his pick. You can see video from the night here.
