Thanks to everyone for the help soldering up my power board kit last night.

Special thanks to Mal for the soldering lesson and helping me solder the heavy duty components on the board. Thanks also to Yves for helping and for Dom’s advice about soldering in general.

Yves camera set up allowed everyone to follow progress on the screen while sitting around chatting.

On top of that it was a great night talking about so many interesting and diverse topics.

We really have a great bunch of people in this club, always ready to help each other out.

Gday Mate.
You just called to find out what happened up at the club last night?
Weren’t you there?

What she wouldn’t let you out?
So you didn’t keep your promise to mow the lawn last weekend.
Dave came round, yes yes, I know what it is like when Dave comes around…

Well anyway, I got up to the club early and Yves and Connie had the place warmed up nicely.
Yea the little wood stove.
Mal and Greg were there and then Mike arrived.
Well you know those soldering irons that Owen Duffy recommend on flea bay, Mike bought one and he brought it up with a little kit to solder up.

Well you know how it goes when there is a project to be soldered up the club.
Yes mate, Yves got the little security camera thingo that he made fired up and as the rest of us warmed the pinkies around the fire…

What’s that?
Yea we watched Mal giving Mike a few pointers on how to improve his soldering technique on the big screen.

What was I doing whilst the soldering was going on?
I was learning what happens to your hair when you go skiing when it is 10 below freezing.
May well you ask, who goes skiing when it is 10 below?
Well it seems in Canada…
Canada, yes mate that Canada, that’s right the place above Trump land. Yes that Canada where Yves and Connie come from. Mate you’re a regular walking atlas aren’t you.
Any way, as I was saying, it seems that when you go skiing when it is 10 below freezing any exposed hair becomes very brittle and snaps off when you go to comb it.
No I didn’t know that either…
Yea it is amazing what you learn up the club.

Well at that point Hurricane arrived carrying a box.
Roger Mate. You know, Roger “the Hurricane” Hines.
Yes “old mate” Roger.
What’s that?
I think it was his professional wrestling name.
Well yes he was in Canada mate.
His hair? What about his hair?
Mmmmate, no I don’t think he ever went skiing when it was 10 below.

Then Jazz Hands arrived with “Cheese Balls”.

As I was saying, Tim and Dom arrived carrying two 14 element aluminum Yagis.
Well it seems they were perfect except they were missing their driven elements.
What frequency?
Dom assured us they were “close” to 70cm.
What did we do with them?
We stuck them up in the rafters, of course, with all the other antennas.
Why? Because “one day” they might be useful.

Yes the “second shift” turned up at its usual time.
Yes, he banged on about a knee capping over my way.
According to his block of knowledge it would appear that some Cov’ got shot in both knee caps at Wentworth point.

Are you clairvoyant mate? That is exactly what I asked “where’s Wentworth Point”.
So I whips out me tricorder [come phone] and asked Mr Google for directions.
It would appear that what was once Rhodes industrial area is now Wentworth Point.
Yes, I agree mate, it is amazing the names that developers come up with for what use to be a group of old warehouses.

So at this point “Jazz hands”, seeing all the tricorder action going on, throws in his trivia question for the evening “when do the FIFA world cup tickets go on sale. Well, let me tell you, that was a tricky one…
It took IBM Greg with his knowledge of the dark side of the net to find the answer to that one.

At this point Charlie pulled the pin and we all lamented the fact that Russell wasn’t there with his post-it note. So you and Russell will need a note from your mums when you turn up next week.
