Contesting is hard but someone has to do it!

The Society again decided this year to participate to the John Moyle Memorial Field Day.

This year VK2MB/p operated from Tommy Cassidy’s new place in the Watagans, about 90 minutes drive from Sydney.  Camping and operating was all HF Bands available to the contest: Single Transmitter, Multiple Operators.

Just about here!

You can’t complain about the view!

As usual we picked a 6 hour window from the 24hr in which to operate operating from around late afternoon Saturday to late Saturday night as that gives us good conditions on most bands especially 20, 40, 80 and 160m.

Whilst Tommy’s place is under some level of construction so there will only be camping available.  However access to a Toilet, Hot Shower and Kitchen facilities are all available for use.

L-R: Greg VK2XE, Richard VK2ARH, Leo VK2LEO and Nick VK2FS putting in the hard yards… and did you spot VK2SCOUT (Scout) at the far left?

Who was there:

Location was pretty good for Radio.  Site is 11 Hectares and is accessible via a steep track so an SUV like a RAV4 will be needed for access.

Contests are hungry work, so…

The event was also an opportunity for a bit of guerrilla marketing for the hobby: check out the review of the nearby Mt Warrawolong Campsite 😉.
