In November, we had a special visit from Mogens Bradley Anderson of ADSB Support in Billund, Denmark, home of another well-known company that makes plastic bricks or something…
Mogens and his Australian wife were here on holiday, and he took some time out to give us a presentation about his company’s work in Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast, or ADS-B, a technology mainly used for aircraft tracking.
Since early 2024, the Society has partnered with ADSB Support, hosting one of its precision ADS-B receivers and feeding the data to the company’s tracking network. As part of his visit, Mogens brought along and installed his company’s latest receiver.
The company is looking for other Amateur Radio clubs and individuals around Australia to further improve its network coverage. Go to https://www.adsbsupport.com/join-our-adsb-network/ to find out more. Even if you already provide a feed to other popular ADSB trackers, it’s worth checking them out.
Back to the lecture… you can see it on the club YouTube channel on VK2MB-TV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdjQvf_T5fc, and the slide deck for the lecture is at https://www.mwrs.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Lecture-Notes-2024-11.pdf.
You can also read a bit more about the company on page 63 of the September/October 2024 issue of Amateur Radio magazine.
