The 40m band was a bit cranky at 9am this morning, with thunderstorms to the southwest and north, so plenty of static about. A few stations popped up on the club’s 2m repeater as well.

A couple of stations missed the RF sched, or were inaudible, but checked in via email afterwards.

As an experiment, suggested by Yves VK2AUJ, we monitored the net on the VK2AAK webSDR, and uploaded it to YouTube. The start of the video provides a quick intro on how to use a webSDR to listen in on an Amateur net, or any other HF transmission for that matter. The VK2AAK webSDR is located near VK2PN, so his signal comes out strongest. There are plenty of webSDRs around the world.

Stations checking in (callsign order):

  • G4WAO Jim
  • VK2BDF Phil
  • VK2BYN Russell
  • VK2BT Tim
  • VK2CAR Carmel
  • VK2EAH Andy
  • VK2GHB Roger
  • VK2HL Horst
  • VK2MDP Mike
  • VK2MZ Rob
  • VK2PN Patrick
  • VK2SKY Richard (net control)
  • VK2TGO Geoff
  • VK2WA Geoff
  • VK2WPJ Peter
  • VK2ZZM Rod
  • VK4KET Douglas in Caboolture QLD

Hopefully that’s everyone accounted for. Many signals were marginal chez VK2SKY.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!
