Dom VK2JNA was heading up to Mt Corree (in The Beast) Wed evening 25 Oct with a couple of ACT ham mates, Peter VK1PHR & Mick VK1MIK to enjoy the drive up & hang & play some radio, 40m in background while driving and up there.
A great time had by all. We met at Duffy Shops & tootled up the mtn. Steve drove his Taurus & Mick drove his little AWD all the way up. Road at top has been graded & gravel filled recently. Very cold, great views & we played some ham radio. Talk to Jim G4WAO, Rod VK2ZZM (HF VHF UHF), Shaun VK2XPP just as well as Others. Great that Geoff VK2WA could join us.
During a wed lunch contact through Mt Ginini with Peter VK1PHR, Steve VK2STG popped in. He was in CBR doing some shopping & recce at Jaycar. We’ve talked on 160m previously (he runs a net at 8pm mondays) & so I caught up for an “eyeball”. I invited him on that evenings Mt Corree expedition & he gladly joined us. He does some SOTA stuff & has great kit.
