Colin VK2JCC with John Zeller, organiser for the Hornsby RSL subbranch

On Wednesday 10 May 2023, MWRS club member Colin “Professor Portable” Christie VK2JCC gave a presentation on Amateur Radio to the Hornsby RSL subbranch. His audio visual presentation was warmly received by 40 members.

Colin outlined what Amateur Radio is all about and completed the morning with a “show and tell” of both military and modern radio equipment. As you can see from the photo above, Colin’s Clansman PRC320 took pride of place (not to mention, dominated) the display!

As is his usual practice, e.g. when operating portable in a park or in the radio room on HMAS Vampire, Colin handed out a number of the new Manly Warringah Radio Society business cards to those people who showed an interest in the hobby.

As a result of the presentation, Colin has now been asked to do a similar presentation to Probus in the coming weeks.

Colin asks, “what are you doing to promote Amateur Radio?” The answer is easier than you might think: be active, be seen, be enthusiastic, and share the enjoyment of our hobby!
