We don’t know why we didn’t think of this before… have you ever met someone, and talked about hobbies and interests, then wished afterwards you had taken the chance to promote the hobby of Amateur Radio – and your club – but you didn’t have an easy way to do it?
As regulars to this site are aware, some of our members take Amateur Radio out in the field, or to be more precise to the park, where non-Amateur folks are likely to see them and get curious. For a while, we have experimented with giving out a business card sized slip of paper (easy to carry in the wallet or purse) to pass on and keep that message in their mind after parting company.
At a recent meeting the Society decided to raise the bar and have proper business cards printed up. They have finally arrived, and we think they look pretty good.
The front side of the card is similar to the original paper slip, with a friendly cartoon licensed some years ago from American cartoonist Dan Rosandich (who unfortunately passed away in early 2023), and the basic Society info:
It was a shame to let the reverse side remain blank, so we put it to use too. A QR code leads to a special welcome page for first time visitors (don’t just leave them at site’s home page), and there is space for the name of the member who handed out the card to add their details, and extra space to write in areas of interest etc.
All Society members are invited to carry a few of these around, in case this great hobby comes up in conversation, or if you meet someone who is already interested.
