11-May-2018 – OZ Radio is back on air http://tecsunkiwisdr.hopto.org:8073/?f=4835.00amz9
At a September 2017 MWRS meeting discussions about a new SW broadcaster got our short wave listeners all excited. It seems that *Ozy Radio* is starting up on some recently vacated Radio Australia frequencies of 3210 kHz (night) & 5045 kHz (24hr). It seems they are just warming up & getting it all happening but members have started tuning in & I’m sure they’ll be sending signal reports to Ozy Radio shortly. I hope Ozy have their QSL cards ready to send out 😉

Hello! Mid afternoon here in the Adelaide hills, 17 June 2018.
I’ve been listening a few days now that I’ve discovered Ozy Radio’s signal on 4835 KHz :).
S4 signal here during the day with some atmospheric noise, but nothing too disturbing. Using Kenwood TS-590S with quarter wave vertical (x40 radials) for 40m.
Cheers,
Nicholas – VK5CX
Greetings! S 9 + 20db in Epping NSW at 14.40 GMT on 07/04/2018, adequate modulation with great audio quality, a bit of QRN but nothing serious. Hardly any QSB on your signal, well done guys, keep the good work up and long live Short Wave broadcasting!
Equipment here: Yaesu FRG 7000 / Tecsun S 2000 / Tecsun PL 880 connected to an ‘inverted V’ dipole tuned to the 15 mtr amateur band.
Love the program including the music! Best wishes to all involved.
Arthur K. ( ex SV1JRK and now living in Oz, no callsign yet)
Good sig into Hobart this evening on AR1780 hand held radio with a few meters of wire alligator-clipped to the antenna.
Cheers
Hello there! I have been listening today (29/3/2018) to your new radio station’s signal. It is coming in to me in a listenable signal but a bit weakly. I am in the Baulkham Hills area of N.SW. I can hear (somewhat) your signal from inside when using the radio’s internal aerial. I wish you well in your shortwave broadcasting adventures. Remember, you have the whole world in which to ask for donations as shortwave radio has a worldwide potential audience.
It would be amazing to have DRM radio broadcasts in Australia, if you manage to do it. I am going to try to send you a tiny financial donation. Best wishes, Goodbye.

Ozy Radio is currently off air whilst we retune the transmitter and antenna to our new frequency of 4835 Khz. We will be back on air in a week or so. 4835Khz was used by the ABC domestic shortwave service originating from Alice Springs until transmissions ceased in January 2017. Expansion plans have also been made to re-deploy 5045Khz to another location and to also commence DRM transmissions for Sydney in the near future.
I’m in South-east Melbourne, tuned in to Ozy Radio tonight to have a listen, good signal here, S8, playing some good music too…
Loud and strong in Tamworth with external wire antenna on my Degen pocket radio – love the music
Mornin MWRS
Just bumped into ozy S/W 5045 on mi little homemade hybrid ferrite rod receiver here in Newport not a massive distance away from x-mitter but always fun bumping into a new one – Q- do we know where it is transmitting from ?
Hi Duncan,
According to https://swling.com/blog/2017/08/ozy-radio-returns/, the transmitter is located at Razorback, just southwest of Campbelltown.
By the way, if you tune up a bit to 5055kHz, you’ll find another new station, 4KZ (http://www.4kz.com.au/) at Innisfail in North Queensland.
Great to see all the new HF activity filling the void left by Radio Australia!
73 & good DX from Richard VK2SKY
PS: our club meets up at Terrey Hills every Wednesday evening from 7.30pm. Feel free to drop in for visit any time 🙂
